Linkedin is one of the best data sources available for B2B sellers, but the platform belonging to Microsoft is known not to earn money by sharing its data. Instead, it generates income from premium advertising and subscription services, in particular those of recruiters and sales professionals.

This did not prevent sales engagement platforms from using Chrome extensions to help sellers generate prospects by entering LinkedIn data. And this seems to be against the conditions of use of LinkedIn prohibiting third -party tools from scratching the LinkedIn data.

On March 6, 2025, a pair of commercial engagement platforms – Apollo.io and Seamless.ai – disappeared from the LinkedIn platform. The two companies have chrome extensions that sellers use to take data from Linkedin.

In the case of Apollo.io, the company still appears in LinkedIn search results:

None of the companies involved commented on the situation.

Clark Barron has an in -depth analysis of the situation on LinkedIn:

It would not be the first time that Linkedin has taken measures against companies trying to obtain its data (if that’s what happened). In 2022, a LinkedIn trial led to the closure of the company based in Singapore M cult PTD. Ltd. LinkedIn has lost a matter against Hiq Labs, which is always making its way through the call process.
