The documentation includes examples of blocking specific pages (such as baskets), to restrict certain robots and to manage crawling behavior with simple rules.

The main point of the first part of the document is to present robots.txt as a stable web protocol with a 30 -year history widely supported by search engines and other robots.
Google Search Console will report a 404 error message if the robots.txt is missing. It is normal for this to happen, but if you bother you to see that in the GSC, you can wait 30 days and the warning will fall. An alternative is to create a virgin robot.txt.
